As we know, children growing up milk powder have been specially formulated to provide the essential nutrients for growing up children. Choosing the right milk for child is the task that is actually not easy for parents to decide. This is so important because the milk that we feed our child needs to provide a balance nutrition and energy for them, at the same time also to develop their brain and physical to the maximum level as can.
However, parents should aware of the content of the added sugars inside the children growing up milk. The most obvious reasons why added sugary foods and drinks are bad and can undermine your health is that they tend to be high in empty calories. Another way that added sugars negatively impacts nutrition and health is that it displaces other healthier foods.
The first step that all parents should take is to taste the growing up milk given to the child so that they can taste by their own how sweet the milk is. And the next step is to check milk label for sugars. How to check milk label for sugars? This can be done by checking the content of carbohydrate at the label and any carbohydrate listed more than 12 gram per serve contains only added sugars. Do also take note of the added sugars ingredient name mentioned in the previous post such as corn syrup solids, glucose syrup solids, and sucrose. Look out for these on the ingredient list of your child’s milk.
This excessive sugars intake is an issue/problem here in Malaysia. Most parents want their children to grow up healthily so they need to be aware of added sugars in their child’s milk.
Recently, some international doctors were in Malaysia attending a pediatric medical conference about health child nutrition – particularly sugars in children’s diets. They stressed out the importance of not giving our children food and especially formula milk that contains excessive added sugars. They recommended parents look for a healthier choice with no added sugars intake inside the ingredient.
Here are some reasons why excessive sugars are bad:
1) Sugar Suppresses The Immune System
Excessive sugar intake actually may temporarily tamp down your immune system’s ability to respond to challenges.
2) Sugar Promotes Inflammation
Too much sugar also promotes inappropriate inflammation that serves no useful purpose and actually promotes aging and disease.
3) Sugar Raises Insulin Levels
A large amount of sugar into your body will have a fairly predictable result that is your blood sugar levels will go up.
